I am Joe’s Friday night….

Still at work right now, counting away. Staying late partly cause I woke up late today and am feeling guilty about it. The other part is that I am semi panicing about how much (or how little) we have gotten done in the gift department. So I am going to finish the side that I am working on and do a small section in the clothes dept. The computers are down, so all I am going to do is to verify counts and prep. the tags.
Then later tonight, I am headed off to San Mateo to see Tim’s softball team playoff game. They made it into the playoffs after a poor start.

Random Quotes from Armageddon and Grosse Point Blank

I understand that you are handicapped by a natural immaturity, and I forgive you
The fate of the planet is in the hands of a bunch of retards I wouldn’t trust with a potato gun.
You know we’re sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn’t it?
Martin: Did you go to your high-school reunion?
Marcella: Yes, I did. It was just as if everybody had swelled.
Debi: Some people say that you have to forgive and forget. I dunno; I say forget about forgiving and just accept.
Debi: You know what you need?
Martin: What?
Debi: Shakabuku.
Martin: You wanna tell me what that means?
Debi: It’s a swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.
Martin: Oh, that’d be good. I think.
[Into the mirror, preparing for his high school reunion.]
Martin Blank: Hi, remember me? I’m not married, I don’t have any kids, and I’d blow your head off if someone paid me enough.
Martin Q. ‘Marty’ Blank: I’m sorry if I fucked up your life.
Debi Newberry: It’s not over yet.

I am Joe’s Thursday night update (O. K., so it’s actually Friday)

Left home @ 5pm and jumped into some of the worse traffic that I have driven in for a long time. Oy Vey, it was bad. If it wasn’t the fact that it was Mew visiting from SoCal, I might have just turned around and stayed home. But 2 1/2 hours later, I was I Vacaville at Mew’s parents house.
Mew showed off her new laptop and her pictures from New York. Then we headed to Tahoe Joe’s for dinner. Our waitress looked really familiar and it ended up that I had taken a class with her at Solano my last year there (English 4 w/Cobene the bastard). So we talked about stuff (mainly my stuff) and got drunk (O. K., I was more drunk) and talked really loudly (now that could have been Mew, although it didn’t help when I spit out my drink in shock after I heard something). Dinner was good, but I didn’t eat much considering that I hadn’t eaten all day.
Afterwards, we headed to Walmart. What is it with me and my friends that we go out to eat and get drunk, then head to Targetor Walmart to shop. I do this with Angie ALL the time. Anyway, I ended up getting 2 pairs of sunglasses and a DVD 2 pack (Armageddon and Pearl Harbor.) I also almost bought another DVD (Grosse Point Blank) and a football for the guys at work. But I decided that I didn’t need any reminders about high school reunions (either of them); has for the football, well the guys already have enough toys at the warehouse.
Besides, Mrs. Seto loaded Amber and I with TONS of Jelly Bellycandies (she works there). I have enough stuff for home, work, Suzanne and her family, and some for Dan, Jen and lil Drake when I see them (maybe this weekend).

I am Joe’s Thursday night…

Off to Vacaville to see Mew and Amber and to have dinner for me. I want meat (i.e. Cattlemen’s) but I think that both Amber and Mew are doing the semi-vegetarian thing, so maybe Strings Italian Cafe or something.

I am Joe’s Wednesday night…

There is an ad in the paper for the new Century Theater; bring a can and get in free for a movie. The catch is that they don’t say which movie they will be showing and that it starts at 7pm and seats are limited. I still kinda want to go, just to get out the house. But I really need to take a shower, and I really feel exhausted.
Amber came by the warehouse today and hung out for awhile. Brian also came out and was impressed with what me and the guys have done. Shit is slowly rising towards the fan, but I think that I am just going to sit on it for awhile.
Tomorrow, I head up to Vacaville to see Mew. She is up for her brother’s graduation and she is taking me out to dinner. I can hear about her New York trip and show her pictures from Susanville.
I am really, really tired. I am thinking about taking some Nyquil just to push me over so I can go to sleep early. Nothing else to do tonight except read my books and to think about my future.
Hmmmm. Going to take a shower and think about what I am going to do in the future, i.e. after I am done with my shower.

Ren Faire in Gilroy!

OMG, I thought that it was going to be in Vallejo/Amer. Canyon
Lavezzo represented the American Canyon site’s landowner who wanted to locate the fair there and got Solano County supervisors’ approval to amend land use codes to allow the fair in as a seasonal use. The landowner was also working with the Open Space Foundation to develop trailheads and a conservation easement over the property if it was used for the fair. Things started going wrong when it came to working out environmental issues with the state Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It would take too long to mitigate the fair’s impacts and still open in time for the 2002 Northern California fair season which traditionally starts in September. “It was our understanding that the project became too difficult, that the approval process was to be too lengthy and difficult,” Lavezzo said. The Renaissance Pleasure Faire called the Blackpoint Forest near Novato home for two decades until it had to move to make way for a golf course and housing.
Fair officials initially tried to move the fair to sites that included Sunol and Lagoon Valley, but opposition killed those plans. Vacaville with an empty Nut Tree on its hands, welcomed the fair there on a year-by-year basis for three years with the last season ending in October 2001. During that time, the fair tried to get a site near Antioch, but that fell through, too.

2002 Dates
Northern will be at Casa de Fruita, Sept. 14 – Oct. 20, 2002. Notice there
is no 3 day and this is only 6 weeks. It was described as southeast of San
Jose, but I understand that it’s really Hollister out on Highway 152. They
didn’t start Labor Day for several reasons, including weather being cooler,
construction and a long-running craft market/show in San Jose Labor Day
weekend. The weather being cooler should be really nice. That also means you
won’t be constructing so much in the early part of August. You’ll be able to
work 3 Day weekend also.

What Was Your Best Halloween Costume Ever?

My Tribal Costume

Well, I do look good in all of my costumes for the Renaissance Faire, but this is Halloween that we are talking about. A couple of years I have dressed up as a woman, heels and all, Not that that’s an uncommon thing to see here in the S. F. Bay Area. I was good enough to be hit on by some drunken Mexicans cruising inn a van one year. However, I think that the best costume that I have had would have to be the Tribal Witchdoctor costume that I got for a Halloween rave in 1998, I believe. The rave was Mo’ Lil Monsters I believe and it was at the Berkeley Ice Ring. I went with my co-worker Jon Blair, his brother Ben, Ben’s girlfriend Misty, another coworker, Som, and 1-2 other people who I can’t remember. This was such a last minute thing too. I think I got the costume either the day before the rave or on the night of the rave, which I think was Halloween. I originally wasn’t expecting to find anything, but the lady found this costume in the back and it fit me. It also had a huge headset made out of grass and stuff, but I left it in the car because I was afraid that I would loose it or that it would catch on fire.
We had to goto 2-3 different places in the Bay before we got the final direction to the ice rink in Berkeley. But once we got there and got it, it had to be the coolest experience that I have ever had. The there was 2-3 room and the ice rink and if you wanted to, you could skate. The best part was that whenever I got hot from dancing, all I had to do was go out to the rink and cool off. But I guess I’m supposed to be describing my costume.
I had on a leopard print skirt with a black velvet shirt. On top of the shirt was a huge feather mantle piece that covered the shirt. Around that I wore a tiger print cloak, also velvet. I bought some orange and white face paint and just smeared in on my face to make a stripe pattern. Not sure what I wore for shoes. And there is an orange necklace that I have on that I have no idea what it is. I think that it might have been a clock.
Well, at this rave I did some ecstasy, along with most of the ravers there. So everybody including myself was rubbing my costume. I remember that feeling so good. Oh yeah, I also had a Ewok puppet that I had found earlier that week. So I was dancing with this puppet for most of the night. I think I ended up giving it to this girl who was X’ed out and had lost her friends.
The only other thing that I remember about that night is that after it was over, Jon and I had to take a pee. So we are pissing against this wall and Jon finishes after about a minute, but I continue for almost 5 mins. It was like that Adam Sandler skit where he can’t stop peeing. It was funny and scary at the same time.
After the rave, I got really sick and was homesick for the longest time. I really don’t remember that part; Suzannecould fill in that bit of history better than I could.

“Ah, but how could I enjoy the sweet of life without the bitter?”

Mike and his friends are watching Vanilla Sky(great mind fuck movie) downstairs. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, so I declined to see it with them. Sometimes I wonder if I am to depressing for Mike. He is always so happy and cheerful.
Got some really good reading at the library too. Jew Vs. Jew: The struggle for the soul of American Jewry (something about the word Jewry that makes me laugh. I’m such a psycho), In the Beauty of the Lilies by John Updike (wrote The Witches Of Eastwick), The Rock Says… by the Rock. The one that I am just enthralled in is Apple:the inside story of intrigue ego mania, and business blunders. It is just a fascinating read so far, how Apple came to be and the whole Apple II/Macintosh split in the company and all. **sigh** not just an historian or a geek, but an geek historian.

I am Joe’s Tuesday Night…

I was going to post earlier at work, but the Mac kept on restarting itself for some strange reason. So much for the perfect Apple computers that never crash…
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I was smoking crack, cause I renewed my membership with Columbia House. So I got my 14 CD (suppose to be 15, but they were out of stock of Wyclef Jean):
INXS / Shine Like It Does, The Anthology (1979-1997) – OMG We are talking about 42 INXS tracks on 2CD’s. INXS is one of my favorite bands. And I’m talking about all of their stuff, pre-Kick, Kick, and post Kick albums. Michael Hutchinson is one of the few celebrities that I have cried about when they died. To me, he was the very definition of a Rock God, along the lines of Jim Morrison. He is a talent that is sorely missed.
The Sopranos Soundtrack – Besides being such a kick-ass show (I’ve only seen the first season. I really need to go and rent the second season), the soundtrack is also kick ass with songs ranging from Sinatra to Cream to Wyclef Jean to Bruce Springsteen. And of course the intro song, Wake Up This Morning.
Chicago / Greatest Hits 1982-1989 – Got this mainly for the memories….
Kid Rock / Devil Without A Cause – Well, he might be shacking up with a diseased Pam Anderson, but I needed some rock in my collection.
Barry White / All-Time Greatest Hits – Suzanne was asking about Barry and was wondering why I didn’t have any in my collection. Ask and you shall receive…
Beastie Boys / Licensed To Ill – Classic album. Gotta have it.
Pink / Can’t Take me Home – Got this for Suzanne to replace the one that got stolen.
Christina Aguilera / Christina Aguilera – Not really sure why I got this. I already have a copy of it that I got from the library. I wonder if I got it for Suzanne? Well, if she doesn’t want it, then I will try to return it.
Tina Turner / Simply The Best – Suzanne thinks that I am sick, but I think that Tina Turner is fucking hot still and I would so do her. If I can only look 1/2 as good as she is when I’m her age
Radiohead / Pablo Honey – Adding to my Radiohead collection
Eurythmics / Greatest Hits – Not sure about this one either. I like the Eurythmics, but I thought that I would have chosen something else over this.
112 / Part III – Peaches & Cream baby. Although when I ordered the CD, I was hoping that the song that they did with Mobb Deep would be on it. Oh well…
John Leguzamo / Live – He is hella funny. I wanted to see him when he came out here a copule of months ago, but I missed out.
I also got some more CD’s from the library: Led Zepplin/IV, Diana Ross & The Supremes/Every Great #1 Hit, The Beatles/One, and the 3 Tenors in Concert 1994.
So altogether, I have 20GB of music on my hard drive; that 1/4 of my total hard drive space. According to my media player, I’ve played less than half of them. It lies though, cause I know that some of them, I have listened too Top five songs played:
Radiohead/Everything In It’s Right Place – 15 times
Missy Elliott/Lick Shots – 11 Times
matchbox twenty/Leave – 11 Times
Missy Elliot/Get Ur Freak On – 10 times
4 songs played 9 times
7 songs played 8 times
Not sure the deep significance of this information. Just putting it out there
