If someone says something that you disagree with or disapprove of, be sure to speak up. By default, that person might automatically assume that you are agreeing with them unless you say something to the contrary. Your words can be forceful without being offensive. Your approach can be assertive without being argumentative. State the facts as you see them, and do not act in a condescending way toward others. This will only make the dynamic more difficult to deal with.
