Friday Five For July 31, 2003

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings? I’m awake around 7:30-8AM but don’t get out of bed until 8:30AM

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late? I try to sleep in; if I’m lucky I never get out of bed. However, something usually comes up and I am out of bed around 10AM.

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning? Turn on my computer. I am such an internet addict.

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day? Usually, 5-10min. Just wash up and brush my teeth, put on some clothes and leave the house. Sometimes I’ll fix myself something to eat, which is another 5 min. Now, if I have a manager’s meeting in the morning, then it takes longer because I have to shower and dress up a bit. And then if I have the afro going on (like I do now) and have to comb it out, then that is another 30mins.

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast? Hmmm. I guess for right now, it would be Bayside Cafe off of 3rd Street. I remember the first time going to this place, which was on New Years Day after going to the Planet New Year Rave that night/day. I went with Mew and her friend and the headliner was The KLF. Years later, I started going to this place for breakfast and sometimes lunch. The food is pretty good and the price is right. The one unique thing is that they have RC cola on tap, which I have never seen anywhere else.

.pie

Nothing says _________ like Chocolate Silk Pie.

(insert whatever in the space provided)

P.S. Cake isn’t bad either; it’s just that pie is better

.beach

Had a…unique time at the beach today. I wish that I had brought my camera to take some pictures. The interesting thing about the beach is that where I live in Pacifica, it’s in a valley, so the hills holds off the fog until later in the day. So while the beaches near S.F. were foggy, the beach near my house was nice and sunny. Spent 3 hours out lounging in the sun; a mix of reading, writing, working on web designs, and people watching.

I think the special thing about the beach is sound, and how it travels at the beach. When I sat up, I could hear all of the people playing and swimming, the cars passing by, the seagulls crying. However, when I lay down on my blanket, the only sound was the waves crashing into the shore, with the occasional flapping of a seagull passing me by. It was very relaxing and though provoking; to the point that I was making my thoughts come to life, but that is another story. Wasn’t enough though to keep the fog from finally rolling over the hill and covering the sun. I stayed out as long as I could, but the sun wouldn’t come out and it was getting colder, so I decided to pack in up for a day. There is always tomorrow.

**side note** Nicole Kidman is so hot in Batman Forever. And Jim Carey is great has The Riddler until at the end, then I think he goes over the top.

Anyway, going to spend the night listening to Barbara’s CD’s and incorporate them into my hard drive. I am so glad for my 120GB hard drive. 🙂 Also have some emails to write. And I will probably try to finish the last level of Bomberman 93′. I will defeat you King Bomber, oh yes I will.

.change of plans

Gym was packed; twice.

Golden Gate Bridge wouldn’t take my money; have to call someone else.

Drove by Ocean beach; decided that I want to goto a sunny beach.

So I am home, but going to walk down to Pacifica Beach.

It’s nice having a beach walking distance.

.mobile astrology

This is the time to have a heart-to-heart talk with someone special…

Hmmm. **sigh** And what would I talk about? What could I say to convince her otherwise? Something to think about along with everything else…

Potential roommate is coming over in 3 mins instead of 2pm like originally planned. I guess it is good since I can def. get stuff done in the city instead of waiting around the house.

It is a beautiful day here in Pacifica, think that I will waste it at the beach instead of inside the house; I can always stay in tomorrow and wallow in my room.

Well, showtime…..

.resist the urge

Decided to “resist the urge” and not walk down to Safeway for some ice cream. Just going to make myself sick again, and by judging by my stomach, I don’t need any ice cream. Also decided to goto the gym before I goto the Golden Gate or to Japantown tomorrow to get some exercise in. Thought about taking a walk tonight, but it is windy and cold here at the coast.

Also just found an ant here in my room, which I am not happy about. I’m hoping that it just caught a ride with me from work. Still, that means I will have to do some major cleaning tomorrow and move the furniture to make sure that it is no a swarm of them hiding in my room.

**sigh** It’s all about “resisting the urge”…resisting the urge for alot of things…

[Listening to: Same Script, Different Cast – Whitney Houston – The Greatest Hits Disc 1 (04:58)]

.ice cream

Thinking once again about getting some ice cream. It would be something a little less sugary than what I had from Cold Stone. Been thinking about either some It’s-Its or Drumsticks.

Will take a shower and think about it a little more.

.sick & vacation leave

Really didn’t get any sleep last night even though I had everything off before midnight. The wind was blowing and rattling the plastic that is out in back. Also there was a raccoon in the back making noise that scared the shit out of me.

So I woke up this morning and thought about calling in. Instead I just got to work late and was never in the mood to be there. Crashed several times on the fork lift, messed up on receiving stuff. At noon, I finally decided to call it a day and told Tim to take over.

Spent the afternoon catching up on sleep and recovering from last night’s dinner of Cold Stone ice cream. Just had some rice and chicken and have been drinking water all day long; hopefully it will help flush the crap out of my system.

Nothing planned for this weekend. Semi tempted to go out to Gilroy for the Garlic festival, but I don’t think that will happen. I will be going out to the Golden Gate to pay my fine for not having toll. I think (or hope) that it is still just $5. Maybe I’ll spend the day in the city. Kinda want to go window shopping in Japantown since I haven’t been in awhile.

Me and the guys are planning our last minute vacations before school starts back up. I’m going to see my parents in mid August. Mark is going to LA next weekend, Peter is taking some days off to go film. And Tim is going to Cabo for a week (he always takes the great vacations…). I should take another vacation just by myself and go somewhere, but I probably won’t. Don’t have the dying urge to fly off alone. It’s easier and cheaper to be alone close to home anyway. Besides, I need to save up money for the upcoming holidays. Have already decided on when I’m going up for Xmas; still need to wait for Thanksgiving dates. And then there is the Ren Faire in two months. I wonder if this is going to be the year that I finally get a cloak? Who knows…

Friday Five for July 25th, 2003

1. If your life were a movie, what would the title be? Hmm. don’t have a good title for it yet. Eye of the Tygre? A Tygre’s Life?
Tygreyes: The Movie? How about Arrogant Bastard: A Sci-Fi Fantasy Action Dramedy Documentary. I will def. have to work on a title.

2. What songs would be on the soundtrack? Well, I have already thought a bit about this one. For the original score to the movie, I think that I would have Amber P. do it, with Brooke F. or Vince S. as backups. As for the soundtrack, I want something that spans all genre
from rock to r&b to country to techno. Would definitely have to have tracks from BT, Missy Elliot & Timbaland, and Yoko Kanno in it.

3. Would it be a live-action film or animated? Why? I think that I would want it with both, have it live action, but have certain scenes animated, like a dream scene or something. And
maybe some of the love scenes could be animated. Def. no Hentai/Tentacle stuff though.

4. Casting: who would play you, members of your family, friends, etc? Well, Morgan Freeman would have to play my dad. I have no idea who could play my mom; we would have to fly a star over from Korea to play her, I think. Not sure who would play my brother either? As for my friends, I will let them choose who they would want to play them. I, of course, would have to play myself and do my own stunts.

5. Describe the movie preview/trailer. Announcer: This is the story (flyover of Pacifica)….Of a normal person (headshot of me driving)….stuck in the body of a not so normal person (shot me doing my bunny dance)….surrounded by unique people (shots of friends and family)….trapped in a extraordinary world.

Me: “Hi my name is mumble, mumble…”
(different people): “Jim?”, “Jun?”, “Jeff?”? , “Jake?”, “James?” “Jerold?” “Zeke?”
Me (With Confused look on face): “I said my name is Joe.”

Announcer: On (opening date), prepare to enter the live of a normal, extraordinary person…

(Me making the sign of the cross on myself)
Friend: I didn’t know you were Catholic?
Me: I’m not, but I’m going to need all the help I can get.

Fade to credits…

Still need to work on it….
